Electronic items

For articles and readings that are shorter than book-length, we strongly recommend linking directly to the reading using the library's licensed online resources.  If the reading is not available electronically, we recommend scanning the document as a PDF with optical character recognition (OCR) for accessibility.  The staff of the Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC) can advise on best practices for scanning and accessibility.

Readings that are uploaded to Blackboard must be in compliance with the Copyright Law of the United States. Amounts used are subject to fair use guidelines. Use this fair use checklist (Columbia University Libraries) to determine if your use meets fair use guidelines or consult the Copyright page of this guide.
