The "Articles" page of this guide lists databases that contain information about communications disorders. As a topic of interest for many professions, these databases and articles are through the lens of that discipline. PsycInfo, for example, views these through the lens of Psychology; ERIC through the lens of Education. These interprofessional perspectives can add rich layers to develop a deeper understanding of a communications disorder, however, it is valid and of merit to consider communications disorders solely through the speech-language pathology lens.
ComDisDome covers communications disorders literature, with focus on speech-language pathology and audiology.
Searching with keywords is a great way to get started, but there is another way to search. Articles in ComDisDome are tagged with subject headings. When viewing an article record, these are found under the abstract. Subject headings are clickable links (like hashtags) that can be used to search for articles about a topic, even if that keyword is not explicitly used in the abstract or title.
These subjects can also be browsed or searched in the Thesaurus, which can be found along the top menu bar. Identify a topic to open its topic family or tree of related terms to choose from. Add the desired terms to searches, with additional keywords if desired, to search in a different way.
